Introduction

Welcome to Athion ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Athion mobile application (the "App") available on iOS and Apple Watch.

By using Athion, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Profile Data — Your preferred units (kg/lb), training goals, and workout preferences configured during onboarding.
  • Workout Data — Routines you create, exercises performed, sets, reps, weights, RPE ratings, rest times, workout duration, and completion status.
  • Custom Content — Custom exercises you create, routine templates, and program configurations.
  • Body Measurements — Optional body measurement data you choose to log (weight, body fat percentage, and other measurements).
  • Preferences — App settings including notification preferences, Smart Progression configuration, dial increments, and display preferences.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Analytics — We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as feature engagement, screen views, and user flows. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
  • Crash Reports — Firebase Crashlytics collects anonymous crash reports and diagnostic data to help us improve app stability.
  • Device Information — Basic device information (device model, OS version, app version) is collected alongside analytics and crash data.

Information from Third-Party Services

  • Apple HealthKit — With your explicit permission, we read and write workout data to Apple Health. This may include active energy burned, workout duration, and exercise type. We never access HealthKit data without your consent.
  • RevenueCat — Our subscription management provider processes purchase transactions. We do not store your payment information; all payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide Core Features — Your workout data powers routines, workout tracking, progress insights, PR detection, Smart Progression calculations, and historical analysis.
  • Improve the App — Anonymous analytics help us understand which features are most valuable and where to focus development efforts.
  • Fix Issues — Crash reports allow us to identify and resolve bugs quickly, improving reliability for all users.
  • Sync Your Data — For Premium subscribers, we use Apple CloudKit to sync your workout data across your devices. This sync is encrypted and handled entirely through Apple's infrastructure.
  • Manage Subscriptions — RevenueCat helps us verify your subscription status and entitlements to unlock Premium features.

Data Storage and Security

Local-First Architecture

Athion is built with an offline-first design. All your core data (routines, workouts, exercises, measurements, and settings) is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. You can use the App fully without an internet connection.

Cloud Sync (Premium)

Premium subscribers can opt into CloudKit sync to keep their data synchronized across multiple Apple devices. CloudKit data is:

  • Stored in Apple's iCloud infrastructure
  • Encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Associated with your Apple ID (managed by Apple, not by us)
  • Subject to Apple's iCloud privacy policies

Data Export

Premium subscribers can export their workout data in JSON format at any time, giving you full ownership and portability of your training history.

Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Firebase Crashlytics — Anonymous crash reporting. Part of Firebase's service suite.
  • Firebase Remote Config — Feature flag management for controlled feature rollouts.
  • RevenueCat — Subscription and purchase management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy

  • Apple HealthKit — Health data integration (with your permission). Governed by Apple's privacy policies.

What We Do NOT Do

  • We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
  • We do not display advertising or share data with ad networks.
  • We do not share your workout data with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • We do not access your HealthKit data without your explicit consent.
  • We do not store your payment or financial information.
  • We do not use tracking technologies for cross-app advertising.

Your Rights and Choices

Data Control

  • Access — You can view all your data directly within the App.
  • Export — Premium subscribers can export all workout data via the JSON export feature in Settings.
  • Delete — You can delete individual workouts, routines, exercises, and measurements within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
  • HealthKit — You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time through your device's Settings > Health > Data Access.

Analytics Opt-Out

You can limit analytics collection through your device's privacy settings. Firebase Analytics respects Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

Notifications

You can manage notification preferences (rest timer alerts, workout reminders, streak nudges) within the App's Settings, or disable notifications entirely through your device's system settings.

Children's Privacy

Athion is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Data Retention

Your workout data is stored locally on your device for as long as the App is installed. CloudKit synced data persists in your iCloud account until you choose to delete it or remove the App from iCloud settings. Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Firebase's standard retention policies (typically 14 months for user-level data).

International Users

Athion is available in six languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese). Regardless of your location, your data is primarily stored on your device. CloudKit sync data is stored in Apple's global infrastructure according to your iCloud settings. Firebase data may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where Google maintains facilities.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes through an in-app notification or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
